Bertolf returns to the ICP Studios in Brussels to begin recording sessions with Guido Aalbers. Bauke Bakker is there to record drums (vintage Ludwig drums, even).
On 12 January 2010, Bertolf tweeted HERE that he was rehearsing with drummer Bauke Bakker the 17 songs that will be on the album.
Bertolf posted at his official website blog:
Nieuwe plaat in de maak!
Vanaf 18 januari zit ik in de studio voor opnames voor m'n 2e album.
Daarvoor reis ik, net als voor de eerste plaat, weer af naar de ICP studio's in Brussel. De eerste single van het nieuwe album staat gepland voor begin maart.
Ik heb er erg veel zin in, en kan vast verklappen dat de 2e plaat meer uptempo en steviger wordt dan de eerste.
Translates something like:
New album in the making!
Starting January 18th I'm in the studio recording for my second album. As I did on the first album, I travel back down to the ICP Studios in Brussels. The first single from the new album is scheduled for early March. I'm really looking forward to it, and I'd say that the second album will be stronger and more upbeat than the first.
The report from Day One (18 January): :
Recorded (drums) on 18 January 2010:
"Fortune Changes Overnight"
"Will Come A Day"
"So Much Stronger"
The report from Day Two (19 January): :
Recorded (drums) on 19 January 2010:
"When The Rain Starts"
"Chameleon"
"Cut Me Loose"
"My Loneliness"
"Two In A Million"
"Say No To This"
(unbelievable day! )
I'm pleased that Bertolf has chose to record "Will Come A Day" and "When The Rain Starts", two excellent songs from his time with the Junes. Bertolf performed "So Much Stronger" at the fanmeet in 2008 in Tilburg with Ilse DeLange. "Cut Me Loose" is a song that I know Bertolf performed in Nijmegen in March 2009. "Fortune Changes Overnight" was written during Bertolf's trip to London in May 2009. "Two In A Million" was written during his songwriting trip to London in late November 2009. All the other titles are new to me and I know he has still many great songs in reserve. It will be interesting to see what he'll record next. We'll find out soon, hopefully.
