Bertolf has uploaded a YouTube of the song "Patty Lane" from his brand new album, Snakes & Ladders. It's a really pretty song about that special girl who comes along and makes everything so new that you're a bit scared to believe it's real.
This is Bertolf showing his genius at creating his own fusion of disparate musical traditions, here including the Bluegrass instrumentation - dobro, mandolin and fiddle (I wonder who plays the fiddle on this?).
I also give respect again to the lyric-writing of Bertolf, for once again he has written an uncommonly good lyric. There is an honesty about the feelings of fear expressed and yet a sense of real happiness and optimism triumphs over this fear. This optimism plays out in the music: in the melody there is that kind of blissful "singsonginess" (a made-up word) that anyone who has ever been in love will understand.
