Hiii.. Critique is a discussion, not simply passing comment. It makes us all look at our songs a lot more objectively. It's not simply "it's good". That is not critique. It's a vote, with no explanation as to why it was voted one way or the other. Good critique is not positive opinion or negative opinion. It is opinion that is justified with some form of rationale, and suggestions about what could be done to change that. In many cases the writer may have considered the point raised and dismissed it, or the favorite of many, mistakenly thought others wouldn't notice. The fact is, in almost all occasions people do notice, they just don't say either because they suspect you already know, or in the case of non-songwriters, they don't know how to express it. It is as important to know what you did well as it is to know what you didn't. It isn't about back patting, but informing and educating all involved. Thanks!
