I recently went to a concert of three different rock groups - groups that were huge in the early 1980's - that are touring together this summer: .38 Special, REO Speedwagon, and Styx. It was a great concert and I was in the fourth row. Some of the bands have had some lineup changes but they are sounding good. That's where professional music has such an advantage over professional sports. Musicians can stay at the top of their skills so much longer. I liked all three of the bands and they all had a lot of energy. Styx was great. One of the first LPs that I owned (and didn't "borrow" from my brothers) was Pieces of Eight by Styx so I enjoyed "Renegade" and "Blue Collar Man". "Fooling Yourself (Angry Young Man)" is another favourite and they performed that as well. Keyboard player and singer Lawrence Gowan (who joined Styx in 1999 to replace Dennis DeYoung) is really good and had this spinning keyboard and often played with his hands behind his back. Tommy Shaw brought out a fine 12-string guitar (what a beautiful instrument) to perform "Suite Madame Blue". And I haven't followed them enough to realize that in 2005 they released a cover of the Beatles' "I Am The Walrus"; they performed it and I thought it was really good! I caught two guitar plecs - one from Tommy Shaw and one from James "JY" Young: It was fun! Oh, and I was happy to have my full hearing back after a few hours.

SO COOL that you caught those guitar plectrums! I know I am still quite thrilled with my Party Crasher one (well, two, but I gave one to Eva...). And what a joy to receive full hearing again... I remember thinking I'd go def at Bertolf's gig haha! Straight in front of the guitar Vox boxes...
