On 12 June 2009, Bertolf returned to his native city of Dronten to perform before family, friends, old teachers, and other acquaintances, as he performed in concert that also featured Racoon at De Meerpaal.

The Meerpaal in Dronten is known as a theater, just outside is a large inner courtyard, the most prominent part of the building. This covered square appears at first sight to a vast empty space. Often, this hall is used for business presentations or small functions, but last Friday, the square served as a venue for a pop concert with Racoon and Bertolf.
Bertolf was presented as the opening act for Racoon, yet considering the current popularity of Bertolf, we can really speak of it as a double concert, rather than as a main act with an opening act. Where at most pop concerts many visitors are still arriving during the middle of the opening act, everyone was already inside before Bertolf began his concert. "What are you guys with a lot already," said Bertolf towards the hundreds of spectators in the Meerpaal, a turnout that would make many a stage act jealous.
Bertolf was born and raised in Dronten, yet he never before performed in concert there. “This is the first time," he observes. Usually Bertolf looks dreamily out at the pretty women who have come to his performance, which he finds appealing. Tonight, however, Bertolf is very pleased because one look at the public reveals a feast of recognition: he sees former teachers and other old acquaintances among the people.
Bertolf’s band rocks nicely, and Bertolf himself gives it his all. "I must really be panting as if I have been jumping. At least, I feel like I’m jumping inside. Maybe I’m not in such good condition,” jokes Bertolf. A lot of people literally sing along to his songs, and the song "Mr. Light" was not different. This is the new single which comes out next Monday.
